The eDNAqua-Plan Blueprint Workshop, held in October 2025, marked a pivotal step toward designing a future digital ecosystem for eDNA-based biodiversity monitoring. As part of the eDNAqua-Plan Deliverable 5.1 (“Blueprint for a Future eDNA Digital Ecosystem”), this workshop brought together diverse stakeholders—scientists, organizations, and infrastructures involved in sample collection, sequencing, bioinformatics, reference libraries, taxonomic classification, and data publishing—to address critical gaps in the current eDNA digital landscape.
The eDNAqua-Plan Blueprint is more than a technical framework—it’s a call to action for the eDNA community. By addressing interoperability, standardization, and stakeholder engagement, this blueprint paves the way for a functional, equitable, and science-driven eDNA digital ecosystem—one that serves the needs of researchers, policymakers, and the environment across Europe and beyond.
