The Biodiversity Monitoring Week (BioMonWeek) is the European conference bringing monitoring experts together for discussions on transnational cooperation and coordination across scales.
This inaugural edition marks a launch guided by a vision to deliver an impactful biannual format. The event will bring together science, policy, and business communities to exchange monitoring knowledge, build networks, and drive tangible societal impact to help reverse the global biodiversity crisis.i
It will foster a common culture and understanding of biodiversity monitoring in Europe, and advance transnational and cross-sector cooperation.
The thematic sessions for the conference are:
- Terrestrial monitoring: Land surveillance in focus
- Marine monitoring: Observing ocean ecosystems
- Freshwater monitoring: Spotlight on rivers, lakes, and wetlands
- Data management for monitoring: Frameworks, data standards, and infrastructures
- Mass monitoring: Large-scale methods and technologies for monitoring
- Public policy and funding for monitoring: Science-policy dialogues
- Monitoring governance: Organisational solutions for improving existing structures
- Monitoring and the private sector: Cooperation with and for non-state-owned enterprises
- Capacity-building in monitoring: Training, tools, and knowledge development
